Next Medical Design was founded in 2008 with the idea of creating a boutique technical service company for the medical device industry. Our first capital investments, a CNC machine and a pull tester, were setup in a garage located just north of Raleigh, NC. By 2015, business growth and the need for more space led us to acquiring our current office space near RDU airport and Research Triangle Park. Since then our breadth of capabilities have grown to include small lot manufacturing of catheters, molded components and veterinary devices.

Paul Robertson

Principal Designer and President

Paul is the founder of Next Medical Design and has been designing and developing medical device products for over twenty five years, with several cardiovascular catheters, introducer sheaths, and accessory components currently on the market.

Prior to starting Next Medical Design, he has held positions in R&D engineering, manufacturing engineering, and manufacturing management, with Teleflex Medical and other device manufacturers. Using skills developed in these critical areas, he has structured his company to provide the best quality of service to medical device clients.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, State College, and an MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Daniela Robertson

Quality Manager

Daniela has been working in the medical device industry for over fifteen years. Prior to working for Next Medical Design, Daniela has held Quality Management positions with B.Braun, hemodialysis filters division, managing on site processes like CAPA, change control, document control, internal auditing, risk management and regulatory support for international submissions.

She has extensive knowledge and training in Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485 as well as 21 CFR 820.

Daniela is a native German and therefore provides support and service in German as well as English languages.

Daniela holds a Diplom-Ingenieur (FH) in biomedical engineering from the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Köthen, Germany.
